Details

Overview
Opened on March 4, 2017, Crown Festival Park (CFP) is a signature outdoor venue envisioned by residents as one of five major destination parks in Sugar Land. The park debuted with the City’s beloved Cultural Kite Festival and has since become a flexible space for concerts, cultural celebrations, athletic events, and large-scale community gatherings.

The venue sits on a 52-acre site secured through a 100-year ground lease agreement originally made between the Sugar Land 4B Corporation and the University of Houston at Sugar Land in 2005. The lease was later assigned to the City in 2012 to support a long-term vision for a vibrant, multi-use event destination.

Ten-Year Vision
According to the Crown Festival Park Business Plan, the long-term goal is for the venue to be fully activated during the peak event season—from March through early November. Programming is expected to range from intimate 2,000-person events to major gatherings of 20,000+ attendees, with a diverse mix of cultural, sporting, community, and entertainment offerings that reflect market demand and attract regional audiences.

Funding and Support

  • Developed as part of a voter-approved 2013 Parks Bond, where Sugar Land residents supported the use of property tax revenues to fund two major parks projects, including Crown Festival Park
  • Supported by the Sugar Land 4B Corporation, which invests in quality-of-life and economic development amenities

Pump Track
A major enhancement to Crown Festival Park is the addition of a professionally designed pump track—offering recreation opportunities for all ages and skill levels:

  • Funded by the Sugar Land 4B Corporation ($500,000 investment)
  • 22,426 square feet total area
  • Includes a beginner loop and an advanced track
  • Built to host local riders and national competitions, driving tourism and visibility for Sugar Land

Why It Matters
Crown Festival Park is more than a green space—it’s a community-powered destination that reflects the values, energy, and vision of Sugar Land residents. From high-profile festivals to regional sporting events, the park plays a vital role in shaping Sugar Land’s cultural and economic future.
