Retail Refresh Grant
The Retail Refresh Grant program is a pilot grant offered by the Sugar Land 4B Corporation (SL4B) to help improve aging retail and commercial properties in Sugar Land. The program provides reimbursement grants to support renovations, updated storefronts, and improvements that make shopping centers more attractive, welcoming, and walkable.
Grant Details
Approved applicants can receive a reimbursement grant for up to 20% of eligible project costs. Minimum investment and grant amounts will be set based on each project and outlined in a performance agreement. Funding is limited and will be awarded based on availability. To receive the grant, projects must be completed and all required paperwork submitted for reimbursement.
This program was formerly called the Commercial Revitalization Grant.
Program Goals
- Promote Economic Growth: Support new or growing businesses by encouraging updates to aging retail and commercial areas, helping attract workers and families to Sugar Land.
- Attract Quality Retail & Community Amenities: Use commercial improvements to draw in top retailers and enhance quality of life for nearby neighborhoods.
- Substantially Enhance Community Aesthetics: Improve the look and feel of commercial areas through upgraded storefronts, facades, and public spaces.
- Create Vibrant Activity Centers: Help build lively, inviting spaces that bring in residents and visitors.
- Support Pedestrian-Friendly Environments: Make commercial areas more walkable, accessible, and safe to increase foot traffic and community use.
- Cultivate Community Identity: Strengthen Sugar Land’s unique character with designs that reflect local values and heritage.
- Foster Transformative Reinvestment in Commercial Areas: Encourage bold projects that refresh and improve business districts.
